NDSF PRESS RELEASE - MR PRESIDENT CALL ALL SECURITY AGENCIES TO ORDER

The leadership of Nigeria Diaspora Security Forum is saddened by the unfortunate situation in which security operatives attached to the convoy of the Controller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, on Wednesday evening allegedly assaulted a female lawmaker, Hon. Onyemeachi Mprakpor, for overtaking his convoy within the premises of the National Assembly.

In a democratic society where everyone is subject to the Rule of Law; this action is unacceptable and NDSF is calling on His Excellency President Muhammad Buhari GCFR to immediately call to order all security operatives to desist from unprofessional damage and attack of properties and persons.

If President Muhammad Buhari GCFR convoy comply with traffic rules then security chiefs are not above the law and it is now imperative to stop the unnecessary harassment of ordinary Nigerians who are now subjected to intimidation, property damage and personal assault without legal remedy availability to the affected individuals.

NDSF is calling on Nigeria Legislators to seize this rare opportunity to read the riot act to security chiefs that they are not above the law and should henceforth comply with traffic rules.

NDSF is calling on the Controller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, to issue an unreserved apology to Nigerians in a national newspaper  for not proactively stopping the assault of an unarmed Nigerian.

In this era of change, the administration of President Muhammad Buhari GCFR must not allow security agencies to operate in a manner that damage the reputation of Nigeria brand as a democratic society where the Rule of law is supreme.

N16bn Ibadan Land Case: Video Recording Exposes Defendant As Claimant !

The video recording of the granting of Power of Attorney by some families in Ibadan to‎ STAD Property Limited to recover 404.74 hectares of land, near Nihort, Idi Ishin in Ibadan valued at over N16bn from the Federal Government but which has now become a subject of litigation  has shown that the exercise took place in the residence of Chief Hassan Lasokun, now one of the principal defendants.

‎This was revealed at the resumed hearing of the case before Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte of the Oyo State High Court, Basorun MKO Abiola Way (former Ring Road), Ibadan where the court watched the video tapes, marked as 'Exhibit K and K1'.


Following the non-release of 404.74 hectares of land formerly acquired by the Federal Government to the owner families,a case was instituted against the Oyo State Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi and two of his commissioners, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice as well as his Land, Housing and Survey counterpart by the families.

In attendance at the meeting presided over by Chief Lasokun in his residence in 2010 where the families appointed STAD Property as their agent according to Mr. Timothy Afolabi, the Video cameraman when being led in evidence by counsel to the claimants, Barrister Olayinka Abiose‎ were Alhaji Tade Lasisi who represented Tade family, Alhaji Lasisi Abaya who stood in for Abaya family and Prince Ganiyu Oladigbolu who represented Omo family.

In the video tapes, Chief Hassan Lasokun narrated how his fore-father, Lasokun accompanied Iba-Oluyole to Ibadan and declared that the land in dispute today was where Lasokun and his followers settled down when they arrived.

Afolabi, who was the second prosecution witness noted that the video coverage covered the STAD meetings with the families for two days and the coverage of the land particularly, the boundaries.

It would be recalled that the first prosecution witness, Chief Ganiyu Oladigbolu had told the court that the Federal Government in 1914 acquired the above stated land from the families without compensation. 

He said that the size of each family's land was not demarcated, so he could not say the exact size of each family's portion.

Oladigbolu, being the Secretary of Concerned Families Owner of the Land also tendered before the court letter of agreement dated June 16th, 2010 in which the family gave power of attorney to STAD Property Nigeria Ltd to facilitate the recovery of the land in dispute from the Federal Government which was admitted as 'Exhibit B'.

Further hearing has been adjourned by the trial judge to Friday, 29th April 2016.

Arisekola Proposes Capital Punishment For Drug Traffickers

 Federal Government has been urged to introduce capital punishment as penalty for drug trafficking in the country.

This, according to its proponent and Chairman, Association of Online Practitioners, Wole Arisekola, will serve as a deterrent to drug traffickers in the country.

Speaking yesterday in Ibadan on the increasing rate of drug trafficking in the country, Arisekola disclosed that he was moved to propose death penalty for drug offenders due to the harms heroine, cocaine and other prohibited drugs do to mankind.

 

“The other reason for this proposal is the increasing number of Nigerians that are being held overseas for drug offenses.  Some of them are even executed in the process’, he said.

 

While speaking further, he noted that “many Nigerians are being executed in Malasia and other Asian countries while several of them are being jailed in Mexico, Colombia and other parts of the world.”

 

“I am of the view that the re-introduction of death penalty will deter Nigerians from further involvement in this crime”.

 

Arisekola, who is also the publisher of Street Journal magazine, an online publication, recalled that “General Muhammadu Buhari, as Head of State in 1994 introduced this same measure and it drastically reduced the rate of drug trafficking among Nigerians.”

 

“Now, as a civilian President, it will be necessary that he works with members of the National Assembly to ensure this law is in place.”

 

He added further that the present efforts of government to market Nigeria abroad will be of little effect as long as Nigerians are still being held on a daily basis for drug offences across the world.

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode will have to live without one of his accounts for now.

The account has been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as it steps up investigation into the alleged N4billion campaign bazaar cash received from ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in the build-up to the 2015 elections.

The funds were allegedly withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) and shared to 10 other directors, directorates, zonal directors and state directors of the Presidential Campaign Organization of Jonathan.
