"Your Appointments Must Reflect Religious and Ethnic Balance"-Yorubas in Europe Tell Buhari.

imageThe Oodua Progressive Union, OPU, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to balance the political appointment in the interest of peace and the unity of Nigeria.
This is contained in a communique signed by Akogun Banji Ojo, Coordinator, Chief Victor Adewale, Deputy Coordinator and Sanni Olajide, General Secretary.
The group appealed to the Yorubas, to irrespective of their religion, pray for the selection of the Ooni of ife so that whoever eventually emerges would foster the progress and peace of Yoruba land and Nigeria.
Continuing, “OPU Europe appeals to Yoruba all over the world to encourage their families to put on Yoruba attires most weekends and encourage their family to speak and eat Yoruba food especially in Diaspora.
“We call for the implementation of report of the National Conference. It is the only way to move Nigeria as a country forward based on the structural imbalances that affect progress which brings suspicious and lack of trust within various ethnic groups in Nigeria.
“OPU calls on the government to expedite actions and facilitate more than two hundred girls that were kidnapped by the dreaded Boko Haram group over five hundred days ago
“OPU advises the southwest governors to establish council of Obas of Yoruba land that will be rotated in every state that is the only way Yoruba can achieve the lost unity within Yoruba people”.
The communique further advised the Federal Government to lay more emphasis on the security of lives and properties of the citizens and foreign nationals living in Nigeria. OPU further advised the Federal Govt to lay more emphasis on the security of life and properties of the citizens and foreign national living in Nigeria “because there are recent report that over twenty states is not safe to travel to by the United States, Britain and some European union countries such report is not good for the image of the tourism sector of the country especially when many countries are looking beyond mineral resources to tourism as source of income.”
Commenting on the selection of a new Ooni of Ife, the group said Yorubas, irrespective of religion should pray for the selection of the Ooni. It said whoever emerge as king should be “someone who was crowned from heaven in the interest of progress and peace of Yoruba land and Nigeria.”
