Boxing Champion Larry ‘The Natural’ Ekundayo presents his belt and pays reverence to his Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III, J.P, CFR, LL.D
The Alaafin of Oyo Empire, his imperial Majesty Oba Dr Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, today took time out his hectic schedule whilst in London, UK to attend Larry Ekundayo’s training session this afternoon at Lime house Marina Gym, London.
His imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III who is undeniably, one of Africa’s most powerful and most influential kings. Trained and fought as a boxer before his ascension on to the throne of his forefathers. Recollections of the long career in boxing come to light as the current African Boxing Union Welterweight Title holder Larry ‘The Natural ‘ Ekundayo of Nigeria presented his belts to His Royal Majesty Dr Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III in London on Thursday.
His imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III showed off his pugilistic prowess and got into the ring with ABU champion Larry Ekundayo for an impromptu sparring session.
His imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III ended his visit by telling boxing champion Larry Ekundayo that he has the kings full support and that he will do everything in his power to make sure Larry has the full support of the government of Nigeria for all upcoming fights and endeavours.
In attendance were Commercial Manager Mr Ben Gray and mentor, boxing great and former commonwealth and British title holder and world title challenger Olusegun 'the gun' Ajose.
His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, an octogenarian boxer being the custodian of Yoruba culture and traditions appraised one of his subjects, the Nigerian Larry Ekundayo the African Boxing Union Welterweight tittle holder who has been making the Yorubas, Nigeria and Africans proud in the world of professional boxing.
''I've watched his fight, he's fast.'' said the Alaaafin, refering to Ekundayo.
''It takes ingenuity of an athlete to outbeat your difficult opponent'', the royal father expressed.
