How Usain Bolt' Grabs Historic Triple Olympic Gold Medal In Rio

Usain Bolt has won historic third straight 100m Olympic final in Rio. Behind Bolt trailed Gatlin, his great rival, who took silver again in 9.89. The best of the next generation, the Canadian Andre De Grasse, claimed bronze in 9.91.

Yes he did it! At 9.81 seconds ever all time fastest man Usain Bolt of Jamaica won his 3rd Olympics Gold medal in 100m run at a lightning speed faster than the American Gatlin. Usain in lane 6 was slower to take a lead as Gatlin sped up before settling to second position in 9.89 seconds.

The time was nothing special – 9.81 seconds – but at this stage of his career he knows scavenging for titles is more realistic than world record times. This win lifted Bolt above Carl Lewis – who won 100m gold in Los Angeles and Seoul – and he now has seven gold medals to his name.

On this evidence only a brave man would back against him making that nine after the 200m and 4x100m relay later this week.

This was Bolt’s slowest championship winning time, a far cry when he raced away from the field to set an Olympic record of 9.63 sec in London four years ago.Screenshot_2016-08-15-02-47-49

It is part of a gradual slowing down and he winds towards retirement next year. At the world championships in Moscow in 2013 he had run 9.77, in Beijing last year 9.79.

Simultaneously he appears increasingly mortal yet still far beyond the reach of his contemporaries.

“I’m really happy but I expected to go faster,” Bolt admitted. “With the turnaround time between the semi-final and final we normally have two hours, but we had one hour 20 minutes, it was challenging. But I’m just happy that I won and that’s the key thing.”

Gatlin was the fastest qualifier from the heats. Gatlin was adventurous and out much quickly – quicker than Bolt was in his semi – but recorded a slower time than the Jamaican as he won in 9.95sec. Blake got second. Bolt was the better runner in the semis. He was adjudged the favourite.

Right earlier by 01:12 GMT the main focal points would be none other than the Bolt who was on the track. One would have been able to tell from the roar that could be heard in Peru. Kim Collins WHO IS IN HIS 40s was on the track too, what an athlete.

The man who may one day succeed Bolt lined up, the fabulously talented Andre De Grasse. As is USA’s Bromell and Britain’s Chijindu Ujah.

False start, Bahrain’s Andrew Fisher. Bolt started slowly – that did not matter though, he won in 9.86. De Grasse followed him and has enough time to look round not once but three time as he came in second. Yep, Usain still had it again leading all in semis-final.
