S’West govs would have rehabilitated Lagos-Ibadan Expressway –Fayemi

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan decided to begin the rehabilitation of Lagos/Ibadan Expressway when it became glaring that the governors of the South-West wanted to take up the project.
Fayemi spoke against the backdrop of how the rehabilitation of the road had suddenly become a campaign issue, being portrayed as a gift to the people of the region by the Federal Government under Jonathan.
The road currently undergoing rehabilitation by government has become one of the campaign issues of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West, attributing it to the acclaimed love of the President for the people of the zone.
In his contribution at the Yoruba Assembly National Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, the former governor of Ekiti State said the impression being created by the PDP that Jonathan loves the people of the region was erroneous.
He disclosed that he and his colleagues of All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction had made several visits to the President demanding for the termination of the concession of the road to allow them take over the rehabilitation of the road in view of its importance, not only to Yoruba people but also to the entire country.
