APC UK Explains General Muhammadu Buhari Visit In The UK

A statement from the United Kingdom chapter of All Progressive Party, APC has been made public over the weekend relating to why the Party's candidate in the forthcoming Presidential Election, Gen. Buhari was not in the public glare on Saturday as expected in London.
The APC UK Chapter Chairman, Dr Philip Idaewor according to a statement received by NUJEurope on Sunday called for calmness, explaining that General Buhari needed some rest over the weekend and that proper interactive sessions with Nigerians in Diaspora would soon be rolled out.
The full statement reads as follows:
"RE - VISIT OF APC'S PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, GEN MUHAMMAD BUHARI TO THE UK.
MESSAGE TO ALL PARTY MEMBERS, SYMPATHISERS AND BUHARI/YEMI OSINBAJO DIASPORA SUPPORT GROUPS  IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.
The APC UK NWC Members,
States and UK Regional Chairmen,
The entire membership of the APC UK,
The Chairpersons and members of All General Muhammadu Buhari in the UK,
All Nigerian Sympathisers of APC’s Change 2015
Good afternoon.
We have been inundated in the last couple of days with requests for information, interview/audience requests regarding, and with our party's Presidential Candidate Gen Muhammad Buhari since the news broke that he was in the UK.
We have also received an invitation to an interactive session with our revered leader and his wife for today, Feb. 21 2015.
I am by this message placing on record that Gen Buhari is in the UK to have some rest but he will during this time take out some moments to interact with a broad spectrum of individuals, groups and leaders. I am therefore appealing for calm, patience and understanding to allow him the space he needs to recover from the gruelling campaign schedule, before returns home.
Regarding the interactive event for today, 21st Feb. 2015, the party in the UK has no part in this and we consider it not a party event.
The programme of engagement with all Diaspora party members, sympathisers and supporters will be communicated very shortly.  Be rest assured that no one from your group(s) will be excluded from having the opportunity to meet with our party leaders including the National Chairman.
For your information, the only programme the Party has for today is the already publicised CANDLE LIGHT VIGIL AT THE NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSION, LONDON.
I urge and encourage you to attend this important event in support of the struggle of the APC to ensure elections are held as scheduled, that these elections are free, fair and credible. And that the military is kept out of politics and elections in Nigeria.
PLEASE SUPPORT DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA.
Thank you and may God bless you.
Dr Philip Idaewor
Chairman
APC, UK ."
