The Acting President of Nigeria Union of Journalists Europe (NUJ Europe) Chapter Prince Lashley Oladigbolu has on behalf of NUJ Europe hailed the election of National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdulwaheed Odusile as the President, Federation of African Journalists (FAJ).

In a statement issued on Tuesday from NUJ Europe Chapter in London office, Oladigbolu described Odusile’s election as another landmark achievement for Nigerian Journalists.

NUJ Europe Chapter urged Mr. Odusile to bring his wealth of experience to bear in developing the Journalism profession and protection of the freedom of the press in Africa.
The Acting President of NUJ Europe also used the opportunity to emphasize on ethical standards among Nigerian journalists and advancement of professional cooperation between NUJ Europe and Abuja National headquarters of NUJ.
"The NUJ Europe is hereby urging the NUJ President to dedicate his tenure to enhancing professionalism in the African continent so as to contribute to the enthronement of democratic culture in Africa." The statement reads.
In the statement, Prince Oladigbolu urged the FAJ President to focus attention on policies and programmes aimed at ensuring the safety and security of Journalists who have of late been subjected to all forms of hazards and insecurity in the discharge of their duties.
He commended FAJ, which is the African regional association of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) for successfully holding its 4th Congress in Abuja.
